Watching the mother of my child give all of herself to birth our child in the way we believed to be best was one of the most important moments of my life.

Not only does Midwifery care facilitate better outcomes for clients, but it also allows for better bonds - - better bonds between the parent and the child, the birthing parent and the birth support, the midwife and the client, and the client & the midwife to the community.
Pictured above is Student Midwife, Ashley Rodriguez and her husband, Justin. This was the birth of their second child; their second water birth. You can see how Justin trustingly and calmly observes Ashley and holds space for her. He was ready at any moment to offer any type of support that was needed and when the time came, their Midwife observed the safety of their birth and their child was born calmly into Justin’s loving hands. The three then immediately embraced each other in the warm water of the birth pool. Justin shares these sweet words about their water birth experience:
“Watching the mother of my child give all of herself to birth our child in the way we believed to be best was one of the most important moments of my life. In that moment, the moment my son was born into my hands I was instantly bonded to my child and will forever be connected to my wife in a special way that goes far beyond the bounds of marriage. Our Midwife watched over us, making us feel safe and supported. She did not take the stage like so many doctors do - - she carefully and skillfully watched over us. My wife and I were able to bring our new child into our family with our own hands. I love our Midwives and I am forever grateful that my wife chose a care provider that protected our family bonds.”
This labor process done together - - laboring person and birth support - - helps bond everyone present at the birth. When the laboring person is supported throughout one of the most trying times of life, this is when bonds are created. When a laboring person is loved, praised and supported throughout birth the natural hormonal process takes precedence and allows the baby to be born into an abundance of oxytocin love which envelopes the entire birth space. As a result, the parents and baby are unequivocally bonded which leads to strong and healthy families, strong connection to your Midwife, and a healthy and strong community.
